Little Mr

In the Heat of the Moment
One of the few blogs I follow religiously, TheBagHagDiaries, just posted her experience backstage at the D&G (aka the LAST show EVER for this brand as Dolce & Gabbana are discointinuing the D&G line and essentially merging it into their main line which for them will strengthen the overall line) Milan Fashion Week show.
Ingrid, who is the blogger behind The Bag Hag, is such an incredibly nice and sweet - oh and HILARIOUS - person. If there was one blogger I’d want to meet it’d be her. Not only is she Asian but she’s so personable.
So to these shoes… How exquisite is the detailing? I mean just look at the prints on the shoe. The pattern on the sole and then the part where the foot rests… Plus the strap, with all that gold detailing. I think if D&G had to have a final show, which sadly they do, then this was and is the perfect way to say goodbye.

Taking a look at the Proenza Schouler show from a few days back. How amazing was it? I love the attention to detail, the use of color, yet at the same time a restraint from using TOO much color (note the opening piece). I think I’m in love :)

Wow.

I mean after watching this it’s truly remarkable just how delicate the skins are that luxury houses use. Not to mention the fact that the skill and craftsmanship with which they’re made with has no competition. After watching this you really understand why Dior is one of the most luxurious and successful companies in fashion today.

What I love is the artisans close attention to detail. Every action they make is calculated and precise. There’s no room for error and these artists/bag-makers show that they don’t make errors.

Check out the video above to truly be stunned and amazed at what it takes to make a handbag from Dior.

When you travel to LA you should be greeted by something to the likes of, “Welcome to the city of Angels & of thieves.”

In the past 12 months I’ve gone down to LA six or seven times. Each trip has been unique and offered something new. I met a myspace friend for the first time (we’ve been digital friends for 6 years) lost or gave-away my Iphone 4 (never mix alcohol), seen and met more Asians than I knew existed, and above all found a family through friends in LA. My most recent trip was probably the best in the past year simply because it was such a bittersweet trip. With the school year fast approaching (I start the 28th) I will no longer have the time to frequent one of my favorite places and so that made this most recent trip that much more special.

For four days I went from Irvine to Downtown to Pasadena to West Hollywood to Santa Monica. Each offered something special and each left my with a lasting memory.

In Pasadena my friend & I stopped at the Norton Simon museum to see an array of impressive artwork, ranging from Matisse to Van Gogh to Picasso to Bouts to Monet. Anytime I’m in a big city museums are one of my first stops. Last LA trip I went to the Japanese American National Museum. This trip I went to this one. Art is so relaxing, it just distances you from the outside world, the busy-ness of it, the cruelty of it. Art, or museums I should say, are like an armor.

Now LA doesn’t just have friends, it has family. Before my departure Sunday night my sister (best friend really but we don’t differentiate) met up with me and some close friends at South Coast Plaza mall. And needless to say she found her Christmas present.

This Burberry trench was made for her

I think one of the turning points of this trip in comparison to other trips is the simple fact that I’m now 21. Before doors were closed to me. So many things were really off limits. I couldn’t go places where other friends could so it was incredibly limiting. Now though turning 21 just a couple weeks ago has opened all of that.

Happy hour, Dragon Bite & Blushing Geisha

My good friend Jerry and I had late-afternoon cocktails and some appetizers. A little while after we got there his boyfriend joined us. Behind us though, as we were outside, there was a group of perhaps the most obnoxious people I’ve ever encountered with a guido (I’m assuming he was also fist pumping, but I had my back turned) yelling “WHO WANTS IT” over and over. Seriously, after listening to them I needed both of these drinks.

The last night I was there a small group of us went out to the Santa Monica Pier. I had only been during the day and the difference between day and night is exactly that: extreme. We went there to ride just the ferris wheel and here’s the view from on top of the world!

Mesmerizing & beautiful, Santa Monica Pier at night

That experience was without a doubt one of the best I’ve had. Not the ferris wheel during which the 4 of us had a dicussion on how exactly the people running the place would be able to stop others from “inappropriate” behavior. A sign was posted in/on the ride warning us (well I mean everyone ha) not to try anything. Rather what happened after the ride was the thrill of a lifetime, I cried. Jerry and I decided to ride that dragon boat/viking ride, which I LOVE. We sat in the 4th rode and I noticed behind us in the 3rd were two kids no older than 8. As the boat got higher and higher and then dropped Jerry’s screams got louder and louder and my laughter couldn’t stop. Its been a while since the last time I cried from laughing so hard but thanks to Jerry he came off the ride minus a heart and me with a bucket of tears.

This last picture is my favorite picture from the trip. Before boarding the ferris wheel the attendants have you sit, pose, and smile. After coming home I quickly framed it.

LA, the city I’ve nicknamed the as the city of thieves as it has stolen my heart and as I’m sure there are thieves there too. All these friends I’ve met over the past year have transformed from friendships into a sort of family. When we all hang out we laugh, forget about the world, and just love one another for who we are. We drink, club, drink some more, and enjoy life for what it is: the moment we’re in.

Thank you LA.

Evanescence has a new music video out. Who knew? Apparently not that many people with only 3 thousand views in a week. Regardless of that though it is not only good to have new music from them but it’s just damn good to hear Amy’s voice again.

Check out the video above for What You Want, the latest single/video from Evanescence.
